Ember Stomp 2025 - Evacuate to Ember Stomp!

Ember Stomp 2025 & Central Marin Evacuation Drill – Saturday, September 6

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 6, 2025—Central Marin Fire Department invites all residents of Larkspur, Corte Madera, and the surrounding communities we serve to take part in two important events in one day:

  1. Our community evacuation drill

  2. Ember Stomp, the nation’s premier wildfire safety festival

This is your chance to practice evacuation before wildfire season peaks—and then spend the day learning hands-on ways to harden your home, protect your family, and connect with your neighbors.

Step 1: Join the Central Marin Evacuation Drill

When wildfire strikes, seconds matter. Practicing your evacuation plan now will help you move faster and with more confidence when it counts.

How it works:

  1. Gather your household – Include everyone in your home, pets if practical, and your go-bags.

  2. Leave your driveway just like you would in a real evacuation – Follow your planned evacuation route toward safety.

  3. Arrive at the Marin Center Fairgrounds – This is our designated safe check-in point for the drill.

  4. Check in at the Ember Stomp entrance – Let us know you arrived safely.

This drill is self-paced and voluntary—no sirens or forced participation. Your goal is to rehearse the steps now so they’re second nature during an actual emergency.

Register for the evacuation drill here

Registration helps us track participation, improve future drills, and keep you informed with evacuation tips. Your information is secure and will not be used for anything other than tracking communuity participation.

Step 2: Stay for Ember Stomp 2025

After you check in, step inside Ember Stomp—a free, family-friendly festival dedicated to wildfire education, preparedness, and resilience.

Event Highlights:

This year’s festival will feature expanded exhibits, new interactive simulations, and cutting-edge wildfire innovations—a one-stop shop for making your home and community fire-adapted.

Why This Matters for Central Marin

Wildfire isn’t just a hillside problem. Our neighborhoods are in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI), which means ember storms from distant fires can ignite homes here.

Data shows that:

The bottom line: Practicing your evacuation route and hardening your home are the two most powerful steps you can take to keep your family safe.
